Congaree National Park
Congaree National Park is an old growth forest located in Hopkins, South Carolina. Looking through this series, you will see various swampy areas throughout the forest and even flooded boardwalks meant for foot traffic (when dry). Congaree is not considered a swamp but a bottomland due to this common flooding. The park is also home to some of the tallest trees in the Eastern United States, as well being "the largest intact expanse of old growth bottomland hardwood forest remaining in the southeastern United States," according to the NPS. This is a 26,000+ acre hidden gem of park!
